Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon – The Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) jointly participated in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for the First Quarter of 2023 in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Manolo Fortich. Faculty members, staff, and students took part in the activity.

The earthquake drill was conducted on March 10, 2023, led by the NBSC Rescue Team headed by the Incident Commander, Mr. Fritchar H. Gevero, with Moderators, Mr. Jade Gerona and Mr. Romejun Aguilar, along with the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) unit headed by Mr. John Mark Boyonas.

According to Incident Commander Gevero, the college sincerely welcomes this initiative by the government. He added that it is vital for the institution to take an active role in promoting awareness and preparedness among its personnel and stakeholders.

“We believe in the importance of the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill because preparation is the key to best equipping ourselves for whatever disaster our school may face. We must educate and empower our faculty, staff, and students regarding proper response and preventive measures during earthquakes and other disaster scenarios. Safety and security is everyone’s concern,” said Mr. Gevero.

The NSED is part of the government’s efforts to sharpen the readiness and responsiveness of schools and communities during emergencies, particularly on earthquakes.
